Based on dispenser technology that has been cultivated since our establishment in 1944, the history of Nichiryo's pipettes started from the first micropipette "Justor" launched in 1975, and now it keeps evolving further as "Nichipet series" under ISO9001-based quality assurance system in addition to considerable technological and sales experiences.
Our company launched an epoch-making autoclavable pipette in 1993, and moreover we deliver high-quality pipettes including various added values corresponding to application in the biotechnology field, such as UV tolerance, ceramic plunger, and chemical-guard for organic solvent, to customers not only in Japan but also in over 40 countries of the world.

Nichiryo, a member of the drafting committee of Japan Industrial Standards JIS K 0970 (Piston operated micro-volumetric apparatus) standards for the standardization of pushbutton type pipettes enacted in 1989, develops pipettes based on this standard. Note: Because the product of which indicated capacity is 5μl or less and 1000μl or more does not apply JIS standard, it depends on Nichiryo standard based on JIS standard. In addition, the performance test by international standard ISO8655 (Piston operated volumetric apparatus) is executed by the customer's demand.

■Calibration Traceability
It is called the calibration traceability to clarify how much accuracy the measured value of Nichiryo's reference standard apparatus, for instance, the balances, weights, and thermometers agrees with the national measurement standard, and to guarantee the accuracy performance of products systematically. Traceable calibration is executed to the measuring instrument that examines the performance of Nichiryo’s products so as to secure the reliability, that is, the calibration is regularly executed by the measuring instrument calibrated by manufacturers or accredited calibration laboratories who have recognized to JCSS (Japan Calibration Service System) based on Measurement Law. The volume of dispense by pipetting is substituted for the mass of distilled water, and the dispense accuracy is confirmed. In this case, the dispense accuracy is properly maintained and guaranteed by keeping the traceability in enough accuracy of the temperature and mass measurement of distilled water and measurement environment.
■Product Traceability
Nichiryo manages pipettes by the serial number, and to facilitate the traceability of them, we have constructed the consistent record system from manufacturing to repair in our company.

Nichiryo thinks consistently that it is important that pipettes used usually in the research of biotechnology field are possible to autoclave without disassembly, and have the tolerance for UV irradiation. Since 1993, it has been possible to autoclave not only a specific part but also the whole part of Nichiryo’s pipettes, and we manufacture and sell them under the consistent control system from the selection of raw materials to the exact endurance test. (A part of pipettes is excluded.)
■Selection of Raw Materials That Have Tolerance for Autoclave and UV Irradiation
Autoclave processing (at 1 atmospheric pressure, 121℃, 20 minutes) and UV irradiation are very strong conditions for pipettes. Nichiryo selects the raw material of pipettes examining the balance of thermal characteristic, mechanical characteristic, electric characteristic, moldability, and weather resistance of plastics enough.
■Autoclave Tolerance Test
The autoclave tolerance test follows the procedure for proving maintenance of the dispense accuracy and smooth operability of pipettes after autoclave.
■UV Tolerance Test
The UV tolerance test follows the procedure for proving that the body of pipettes is not degraded, and smooth operability of pipettes is maintained after UV lamp continuous irradiation.

■Nichiryo America Inc.
In 1996, Nichiryo established Nichiryo America Inc. to meet the demand for a big market, the United States. Nichiryo America started to launch high-quality pipettes “Oxford” made in Japan, and has acquired a fine reputation of many customers. Now, Nichiryo products are delivered to not only the United States but also Canada, and countries in Central America and South America by the local staff of Nichiryo America under fine sales and support system.
■Worldwide Distributors as Nichiryo Partners
Nichiryo’s pipettes are exported to regular distributors, as Nichiryo partners, in over 40 countries of the world, and delivered to a lot of customer's laboratories as standard made in Japan. The staff of regular distributors has received special training of sales and maintenance, and always provides not only products but also customer support, such as calibration consistently.
